Tamar Sofer-Geri, Founder, Executive Director. Tamar founded Carb DM after her daughter Tia’s diagnosis with type 1 diabetes in 2009. Tamar and Tia’s need to connect with others in the T1D community led them to realize there was a lack of opportunities to do so, so they started to create those opportunities themselves. Together they would provide other parents and children with support and information so that they can feel empowered to advocate and care for themselves or their children and feel positive about their future living with diabetes. Noor Al Ramahi, Community Manager. Noor hails from Abu Dhabi, where she was born and raised. Noor was diagnosed with T1D two weeks shy of her 6th birthday. In her home country, she was active in the T1D community as a mentor to newly diagnosed children. Noor moved to the US with her husband in 2012 and started working with Carb DM in 2013. As outreach coordinator, Noor manages our website and Facebook pages, sends out the emails, and makes sure everyone knows what’s going on at Carb DM. To contact Noor email
Nikki Langlois, Program Coordinator. Nikki’s son, Quinn was diagnosed with T1D 9 years ago when he was 7 years old. At the time, they were living in North Carolina where, Nikki says, “they do things very differently.” They were “sailing along” with their diabetes care until puberty and the move coincided to create “the perfect storm.” Once in California, Nikki sought out the diabetes community and found Carb DM. In November of 2013 she decided to join Carb DM as a full-time volunteer. Nikki is responsible for event planning and logistics, making sure our calendar is up-to-date, and keeping us all organized!
