In case you haven’t been following the news from the White House this week, I wanted to share with you that our own Howard Look, Founder, CEO, and President of Tidepool, met with President Obama at the White House this week as part of Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI). He participated in a panel discussion on Precision Medicine as well as a round table discussion. A full recording of the panel discussion is available on the White House website.
This wasn’t Howard’s first honor related to the PMI. Last summer Howard was honored by the White House as a Champion of Change. To learn more about President Obama’s Precision Medicine Initiative you can read this New York Times article.
Beyond Precision Medicine, it’s clear that Howard had a great rapport with the President.
After the mics were off President Obama said to Howard: “There something about daughters. Dads will do anything for their daughters.” President Obama was clearly taken by Howard’s commitment to improve the life of his daughter.
We are all grateful to Howard for doing everything he can to improve the life of his daughter and by extension the lives of all kids and adults with T1D.
Howard will be back in Washington DC this week to testify before the Research and Technology Subcommittee Hearing – Smart Health: Empowering the Future of Mobile Apps.
