Carb DM is growing! We are excited to announce the latest member of the Carb DM family, our new Program Manager Eric Planzer. Eric has been a part of the diabetes community since 1999, when he was diagnosed with T1D. He is a proud alumni of DYF’s Bearskin Meadow Camp, first as a camper, and later as an employee (where he worked with our very own Executive Director Krystle Samai!). Eric has also worked at JDRF in Sacramento.
Eric’s involvement with Carb DM dates back almost a decade ago, when he hosted several Beer & Basals events in Sacramento. As Program Manager, Eric will be planning and organizing the programs and events that we all know and love, including Beer & Basals, Type 1 Topics, and more. A Sacramento native, Eric has spent the last few years in Charlotte, NC, so we are happy to welcome him back to California and back to Carb DM.
When Eric isn’t planning programs for Carb DM, you’re likely to find him in the Great Outdoors, running, hiking, or backpacking. His latest accomplishment is completing a thru-hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail, a 170-mile hike looping around Lake Tahoe. Eric’s love of nature matches perfectly with another of his interests: searching for Sasquatch! He keeps his eyes peeled for the mythical (or perhaps not-so-mythical?) beast whenever he is out on one of his treks.
Over the next few months, the Carb DM community will get opportunities to meet Eric and say hello at a Carb DM event. In addition, we’ll be featuring Eric in future blog posts so you can get to know him even better.
Let’s all give a big, warm welcome to Eric! We all look forward to connecting, learning, and thriving with him.
