The 2019 Bay Area Diabetes Summit is less than 2 weeks away! We can’t wait to welcome the diabetes community to Chabot Community College for a day of education, networking, and community building. Online registration is still open, so come and join us on April 14 at Chabot Community College. Here are 10 reasons why you won’t regret it:
Learn from the best and brightest
From keynote speakers to panelists to moderators to breakout session speakers, you’ll be learning from the luminaries of the T1D world. Our speakers range from medical professionals to business leaders to stars in the diabetes community. Check out the 2019 Bay Area Diabetes Summit schedule for a full list of speakers.
Meet key players
At our vendor fair, you’ll get to chat with representatives from local organizations. From device manufacturers to medical providers to data providers to medical trial organizers to support groups, you’ll be able to ask your burning questions and get to know their organization and how they can help you.
Laugh your socks off
A good host can make or break a conference, and ours is guaranteed to lift your spirits and get your day started right. Melissa Lee, also known as Sweetly Voiced, is a star in the online diabetes community. She is known for her hilarious diabetes-themed music video parodies, where she cleverly modifies pop songs to portray the bittersweet realities of life with T1D. We can’t wait to hear Melissa’s unique blend of humor and passion for T1D advocacy on April 14!
Customize your learning
Are you a patient, caregiver, family member, or medical professional? Whatever your background and interests, our breakout sessions will educate and inspire. This year, we’ve even got a Spanish language track and sessions that addresses issues specific to the Asian American T1D community.
Win fabulous prizes
You’ll have more chances than ever to win at our lunchtime raffle: tickets cost just $1 each! Prizes include wine gift baskets, sports packages, and more. You could even a dinner with diabetes luminaries Kelley Close and Adam Brown of DiaTribe!
Grab some souvenirs to take home
We’ve got the fun perks covered, from a JDRF-sponsored breakfast, a Draeger’s-sponsored lunch, free chocolate samples, and a canvas tote bag to take home the swag you collect from the vendor booths!
Everyone is welcome
We firmly believe that your ability to pay shouldn’t impact your ability to learn and connect with the T1D community. That’s why we’re offering 50% and full scholarships to attend the 2019 Bay Area Diabetes Summit. If attending the summit poses a financial hardship for you and your family, email email@example.com.
Can’t choose between session A and session B? We’ll be live streaming select sessions, so you won’t have to miss a single thing! Check the Carb DM Facebook page on the day of the Summit for more information on live streaming.
Bring the whole family
Diabetes affects the entire family, so the entire family is welcome to attend the 2019 Bay Area Diabetes Summit. Diabetes Youth Families is providing full-day childcare for just $25 per child, so while you’re attending the summit, your kids can enjoy time with other kids who understand the realities of life with diabetes. DYF is the organization behind Bearskin Meadow Camp, Camp de los Niños, and other great camps for kids and families with T1D, so you know your little ones will be in good hands.
Connect with the T1D community
The Bay Area Diabetes Summit is one of the largest gatherings of people with diabetes (and the people who support them) in the Bay Area. At the Summit, you’ll be with people who understand your reality. Make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and share your story with a supportive, understanding community. Whether it’s your first summit or your fourth, you’ll feel right at home!
