The 2nd Annual Mother-Daughter Weekend is dedicated to understanding T1D from a female perspective.
This weekend is for pre-teen and teenage daughters (ages 10 and above) who are interested in learning more about managing T1D throughout the female life cycle; get tools for effective mother-daughter communication; and learn how to deal with diabetes in the real world. In addition we will learn techniques for stress reduction and well being, bond with your daughter and other mother-daughter dyads, and best of all, have fun!
This year we had almost double the number of mother – daughter dyads we had last year! The girls built confidence and learnt to appreciate their bodies, minds and relationships with their mothers. The speakers lifted their morals and gave them the tools and knowledge to take on their T1D adolescent years. It strengthened bonds and mended relationships. Mothers and daughters took part in fun activities such as bocce ball, art project and role playing to improve communication.
