When our 11.5 year old daughter was diagnosed with T1D in August 2011, I remember thinking: “we can figure this out. After all, how difficult could it be?”
But a month later we found ourselves drowning in test strips and overwhelmed with the enormity of the disease and what it all meant for our daughter and our family.
At the first Coffee & Carbs I attended I was finally able to feel at ease with people who knew what I was going through. An expert speaker at Type 1 Topics helped us make sense of basal rates and understand how to tailor them for our daughter. And just last weekend at the Mother Daughter Retreat, my daughter and I learned about hormones I didn’t even knew existed and how they affect diabetes management!
Carb DM is about you and me sharing our experiences and learning from each other.
